A New Year, A New You: Why Curiosity is the Key to Happiness

A New Year, A New You ~ Why Curiosity is the Key to Happiness

Just weeks after publishing my book, “Me With Me” December 5, 2008, I began to lose vitality…little did I know my adrenal glands were on the burnout train and I was about to lose everything. Life was summoning me to a 5-year examination on the values I shared in this said book.

To keep my sanity, (and BTW this was time of Occupy Movement,) I decided to shoot 90 videos, one each day on various topics of my book. As a professional photographer, I instinctively knew curiosity of being in front of the camera, rather than behind it, was one way to pull me out of misery. The message of this video project was both the imperative of self-care FIRST and the benefits of accountability (Occupy yourSELF!)

I compiled the videos into a Book Trailer (what a gift arising from this personal transition!) Check out the book trailer here:

While my essence remains indistinguishable, my approach to Life and relationship with Spirit are forever altered. I abide in the state of curiosity as much as is possible, especially when stressed or triggered. I notice a huge reduction in stress and being at the affect of my emotions while in this state of child-like-wonder. Contemplate this: what if you finally stopped arguing with life the way it is? What if you felt empowered with:

* confidence * motivation * creativity * accomplishment

One helpful attitude during challenging life transitions is curiosity: When we get curious, we get happy.

What I’m most excited for, is the development of my second book inspired by the adrenal rite-of-passage. That said, I’ve decided to shoot another 90 videos! What????

Nine years later…Writing curriculum, speaking and teaching inspired from my innate drive to create, are all fodder for the mill in this second book. I liken its pages to this, ” Want what you have and don’t want what you do not have.”

“With Janet’s help I could effectively take a step back and view my physical surroundings from a place of curiosity (like a child) – this instantly brought me to a place of calm, curious observation and took the ‘charge’ out of the moment(s.) I could easily use her techniques (and still do) to move through the stressful situation without the anxiety and panic I had been feeling. Janet has a huge wealth of knowledge she has distilled into a process connecting you to the world around you in a new and empowering way. She leaves you with the tools to easily handle stressful situations and life transitions.” ~ Ronnie R, Santa Rosa
